National Original Print Exhibition selection!

I'm so chuffed - my linocut print 'Cinema' has been selected to be part of the National Original Print Exhibition at Bankside Gallery, London from Sept 16-28th.

From the press: "The National Original Print Exhibition is an open show established by the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, with the aim of promoting the best of printmaking to a wider audience."

So excited for the Private View on September 16th!

Final Marathon Print composition and experimenting with blue inks

All the runners and crowd (drawn with coloured pencils and pens) have been individually cut out and stuck down with blue-tac. Next I will experiment with layering different coloured relief inks to see if I can get all these colours (or as many as I can) with just five layers of lino..

First of all I'm going to experiment with different blues. This is Pure Blue which I've never used before. I've started with blue as I like to print the darkest colour first.

Here are the 'swatches' of layered ink I'm starting to build up. Next I'll be printing red over the top of these blue strips to see what colour it makes (hopefully some lovely purples..)

Brighton Marathon 2014 runners drawings

I'm planning a large-scale multi-layered lino print based on the Brighton 2014 marathon.

Here are some initial drawings I've been doing with coloured pens and pencils.
